GMC Annual Sales Statistics and Long-Term Momentum

GM’s annual U.S. delivery tables show three consecutive years of growth. GMC rose from 517,649 vehicles in 2022 to 563,677 in 2023, then to 614,117 in 2024.

Calendar period GMC U.S. deliveries Year-over-year change

GM’s 2024 release described GMC’s total sales as up 9%, calling it the brand’s best year ever at the time of publication. The delivery table gives the more precise 8.9% comparison, while the company release rounds the increase to 9%.

The same release reported a 33% spike in GMC Q4 sales in 2024. The delivery table records 178,289 vehicles in Q4 2024 versus 134,296 in Q4 2023, a 32.8% increase; selling days differed, at 78 versus 76.

GMC Sierra Sales Statistics Across Light-Duty and Heavy-Duty Pickups

Sierra was GMC’s largest reported model grouping in each of the three annual tables. Total Sierra sales moved from 241,522 in 2022 to 295,737 in 2023 and 324,734 in 2024.

Period Sierra LD Sierra HD Total Sierra
2022 142,404 (-20.2%) 99,118 (+40.4%) 241,522 (-3.0%)
2023 189,288 (+32.9%) 106,449 (+7.4%) 295,737 (+22.4%)
2024 214,819 (+13.5%) 108,127 (+1.6%) 324,734 (+9.8%)

Source: GM U.S. DELIVERIES FOR QUARTER 4 2024, with 2022 and 2023 comparisons from the 2022 table and the 2023 table.

The pattern is uneven across the two pickup categories. Sierra LD declined 20.2% in 2022 before increasing 32.9% in 2023 and 13.5% in 2024, while Sierra HD grew in all three comparisons, though its 2024 increase was only 1.6%.

The 2024 total Sierra row includes Sierra EV. Earlier tables use different HUMMER EV labels, so comparisons should preserve the model definitions used in each annual table.

GMC’s three listed SUV lines show different trajectories. Terrain rebounded in 2024 after a 17.0% decline in 2023, Yukon was broadly stable in 2023 before growing in 2024, and Acadia rose in 2023 before falling in 2024.

Model 2022 U.S. deliveries 2023 U.S. deliveries 2024 U.S. deliveries
Terrain 86,567 (+82.3%) 71,857 (-17.0%) 82,100 (+14.3%)
Yukon 82,304 (-2.3%) 82,271 (0.0%) 87,312 (+6.1%)
Acadia 53,014 (-11.5%) 66,322 (+25.1%) 49,178 (-25.8%)

Source: GM U.S. DELIVERIES FOR QUARTER 4 2024.

Terrain’s 2022 total was 86,567 vehicles, up 82.3% from the prior year, followed by 71,857 in 2023 and 82,100 in 2024. Yukon sales were 82,304 in 2022, 82,271 in 2023, and 87,312 in 2024; GM’s 2023 table rounds the year-over-year change to 0.0%.

Acadia sales were 53,014 in 2022, 66,322 in 2023, and 49,178 in 2024. The 2024 total was down 25.8% year over year, making it the sharpest reported decline among these three SUV lines for that comparison.

GMC Canyon, Savana and HUMMER EV Sales

The remaining model rows show a mix of recovery, contraction and launch-stage expansion. Canyon moved from 27,819 vehicles in 2022 to 22,458 in 2023, then climbed to 38,215 in 2024.

Model 2022 2023 2024
Canyon 27,819 (+15.3%) 22,458 (-19.3%) 38,215 (+70.2%)
Savana 25,569 (+44.1%) 21,788 (-14.8%) 18,585 (-14.7%)
HUMMER EV 854 vs. 1 in 2021 3,244 (+279.9%) 13,993 (+331.4%)

Source: GM U.S. DELIVERIES FOR QUARTER 4 2024.

Canyon’s 2024 increase followed a 19.3% decline in 2023. Savana sales decreased in both 2023 and 2024 after rising 44.1% in 2022.

HUMMER EV sales were 854 in 2022 compared with 1 in 2021, then 3,244 in 2023 and 13,993 in 2024. The 2024 row explicitly combines pickup and SUV, while the 2022 table labels the row HUMMER EV Pickup and the 2023 table labels it HUMMER EV; the early-year base was launch-stage.

GM’s 2024 release also said Denali had a record year during its 25th anniversary year. It supplied no Denali unit total, so this is a company-reported record indicator rather than a volume statistic.

Quarterly GMC Sales Statistics and Year-over-Year Changes

Quarterly results add timing detail to the annual totals. GMC sales reached 130,608 in Q1 2023, up 7.6% from Q1 2022, while total Sierra sales reached 67,198, up 18.7%; Sierra LD alone reached 46,382, up 26.0%.

Q2 2024 measure U.S. deliveries Year-over-year comparison

Sierra total 80,188 +5.8%
Canyon 11,351 +69.2%
Terrain 27,259 +38.4%
HUMMER EV pickup and SUV 2,929 Versus 47 in Q2 2023

Source: GM U.S. DELIVERIES FOR QUARTER 2 2024.

GMC’s January-June 2024 total was 283,963 vehicles, down 0.9% from 286,613 in the same 2023 period. That half-year comparison is distinct from the Q2-only increase, because the year-to-date figures include the first quarter.

The Q2 HUMMER EV comparison was 2,929 vehicles versus 47 in Q2 2023. GM identified the prior-year base as a launch-stage comparison, so the large difference should not be treated like a mature model’s ordinary rate trend.

GMC Sales Mix, Market Position and 2024 Context

Calculations from the same GM tables indicate that Sierra represented 52.9% of GMC’s 2024 brand total, compared with 52.5% in 2023. These are derived shares, not GM-published market-share metrics.

Derived measure Result Definition
Sierra share of GMC, 2023 52.5% 295,737 of 563,677 deliveries
Sierra share of GMC, 2024 52.9% 324,734 of 614,117 deliveries
Sierra LD share of Sierra, 2024 66.2% 214,819 of 324,734
Sierra HD share of Sierra, 2024 33.3% 108,127 of 324,734
Q4 share of GMC’s 2024 total 29.0% 178,289 of 614,117

Source: GM U.S. DELIVERIES FOR QUARTER 4 2024 and GM U.S. DELIVERIES FOR QUARTER 4 2023.

Sierra LD accounted for 66.2% of 2024 total Sierra sales and Sierra HD accounted for 33.3%; rounding means the components may not sum exactly to 100%. The 2024 Sierra total includes Sierra EV, which is another reason to retain the table’s definitions when interpreting the mix.

The 2024 model rows sum to 614,117, matching the reported GMC brand total. This is an arithmetic check of the published rows, not an independent estimate, and all figures in this article are U.S. measurements rather than worldwide GMC sales.
